Hey there sparkle people!
Facials and spa appointments are surely the most relaxing times in a girl's life - but it is definately a drain on the pocket! I am sure someone who has experienced extremely sensitive skin will agree with me when i say that the best products to use instead are the ones your grandmom taught you to make!
Here are some secrets below - some of which i have used and others i intend to use soon!
Note: It is a good idea to try a patch test first if you are using any of the below for the first time.
Skin:
1. Olive oil and almond oil:
Tried and tested - amazing results!
Mix the two oils in equal proportion and apply the same to the body. Rinse after 20 minutes. Give way to soft, smooth, lovable skin!
Almond oil is rich in Vitamin A,B, and E and helps make the skin rich and healthy. Olive oil is wonderful when used as a moisturiser.
The mix could be used on the hair as well for strong shiny hair.
2. Oatmeal and honey
Mix both the ingredients until they are thick enough to stay on the face.
The antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties of the oatmeal is ideal for sensitive skin and is known to treat many disorders!
Honey ofcourse, the best natural ingredient for every problem will help moisturise the face.
3. Honey, lemon, rose water mask:
Removes a tan in a jiffy!
This is my absolute favourite!
Mix 1/2 a lemon and 1 tbsp of honey into a slight paste thick enough to apply on the face. Also add a tsp of rose water. Apply on the face and rinse after 15 minutes.
Lemons are filled with AHA's and BHA's and are great in getting off that tan and those pesky blackheads! Honey is a natural anti oxidant and antibacterial. The rose water is a great touch for any redness because of sensitive skin and a great toner!
4. Honey and cinnamon:
Great cure for breakouts!
Mix 1 tsp of honey with 1/4 tsp of cinnamon to make it a fine paste. Apply the same on your face and leave on overnight.
Both cinnamon and honey are known for their antibacterial properties and are great for combating acne!
5. Sugar and cinnamon:
For supersoft skin!
This is a brilliant body scrub. Mix 1 cup of Sugar with 1 tbsp of cinnamon and 1 cup olive oil. It smells brilliant and makes your skin feel super. Soft!
For the hair:
1. Egg and olive oil:
My friend swears by this recipe!
Mix a spoonful of olive oil in a whisked egg. Apply to the hair prior to shampooing and keep for half an hour before rinsing or drying. Gets rid of frizzy hair. Make sure you do not keep it on for too long as your hair might get stiff from the egg.
Olive oil will protect your hair from the environment and the protein in the egg helps make your hair healthy. It will restore your hair's manageability and softness!
For chapped lips
1. Vicks Vaporub:
This is a real shocker but it really works!
If you leave some vicks on overnight you will have amazingly soft lips the next day!
2. Cinnamon Sugar scrub
The cinnamon sugar scrub mentioned earlier could be used along with lukewarm water instead of olive oil.
Hope this helps! Do try out these remedies and let me know how it works out!
Peace.Love.Beauty!
